MORGANTOWN, W.Va. (AP) — A West Virginia University Hospitals official says it has a new proposed agreement that union members will vote on later this week, possibly diverting a strike.
Vice President of Human Resources Charlotte Bennett says Monday's sessions with Local 814 of the AFL-CIO and a federal mediator ended with the new proposal that offers "significant give and take" on pay, health care costs and other issues.
Bennett says there will be informational sessions for union members on Wednesday and a vote on Thursday.
The union for nearly 870 employees planned to strike when its contract expires Friday.
WVU Hospitals includes Ruby Memorial Hospital, the Jon Michael Moore Trauma Center, WVU Children's Hospital, Chestnut Ridge Center and the Mary Babb Randolph Cancer Center.
